Joan's Story
Life
Graduated from University of Wis-Milwaukee with a degree in Theatre Education. Left for England the day after my last college final - loved it so much I decided to become a travel agent.
Went to work for American Express Travel in NYC in 1973 & after a stint in Honolulu eventually ended up back in Milwaukee. Have been lucky to see much of the world (69 countries so far), with 30+ visits to the UK alone.
Was happily working for a breast cancer nonprofit as Coordinator of Development & Programs, but job was eliminated & have been temping ever since. If any of you have contacts in Milwaukee area who might have open positions, please advise !!!
Married a lovely man (Guy Johnson) in 1984. Sadly, Guy died in 1996 & I've been a widow since then. I have an adult stepdaughter.
Had breast cancer in 2000 with a lump...Expand for more
ectomy, chemo & radiation ... the whole 9 yards. Joan with no hair was not a pretty sight but it all grew back so I am a curly redhead once more. Currently considered "cancer-free" & feeling just fine..
Major interests/Hobbies include:
-Reading (always #1 for me)
-Writing fiction (1 completed novel)
-Movies (huge collection)
-Collecting Asian art (House looks vaguely like Pier 1)
-Shopping (unfortunately,I'm an eBay junkie)
-Surfing the Net
-Faux finishing & Silk Flower arranging
-Photography
-Genealogy
-The Green Bay Packers (Go Pack! . . . sorry guys)
Still blessed with wonderful family & friends all over the world. My Mom is 95 & has had a few serious medical setbacks but is still hanging in there. My sister Kathy lives in Worth, so I do get down there periodically. Would love to hear from any of you out there!
